Λίγους μόλις μήνες μετά την κυκλοφορία του PowerMac G3 (μπλε και άσπρο), η Apple κυκλοφόρησε το PowerMac G4. Το σχήμα ήταν παρόμοιο με του G3, με ημιδιάφανο πλαστικό σώμα και ευκολία στην αναβάθμιση του εσωτερικού. βασιζόταν, όμως, στον νέο και ταχύτερο επεξεργαστή G4. Η σειρά αυτή ήταν αρκετά πετυχημένη, και κυκλοφόρησαν πολλές παραλλαγές του PowerMac G4, όπως το Quicksilver G4.

Just a few months after the release of the innovative PowerMac G3 (blue and white), Apple released the G4 tower. It used the same chassis as the previous model, but in a different color (graphite) and with the much more powerful PowerPC G4. It proved to be a very succesful line of computers, with many improvements over the design and specifications over the next few years.
